The cycle nitrogen goes through

Step 1: nitrogen fixation, bacteria converts the nitrogen gas to ammonia which plants use.
Step 2: Nitrification, the process which converts the ammonia into nitrite irons which the can use and take in as nutrients.
Step 3. Ammonification, after all the nitrogen is used by the organisms, bacteria decomposes and convert the nitrogen's rich waste compounds into simpler ones.
Step 4: Denitrification, the final step in the nitrogen cycle. Other bacteria converts the simple nitrogen compounds back into nitrogen gas which is then released back into the atmosphere to begin the cycle again.
